The Land of Enchantment
I just got back from a 3 week road trip to Santa Fe, NM. They call New Mexico the Land of Enchantment and I can say I’ve been under its spell since the moment I saw the land from an airplane almost 10 years ago.
On a flight to California I looked out the window and was completely mesmerized by the landscape. Where was I? The map indicated we were over New Meixco, near Truth or Consequences. From that moment forward I knew I had to get out there.
Since then I’ve made 2 trips and both times I found there was never enough time to see all the things. As a highly sensitive person it’s easy to feel sensory overload, especially in a place like Santa Fe between the incredible art, culture, and nature.
At the same time though I feel nurtured by it all, by the softness of the landscape and architecture, the vastness and distance of the land (especially coming from flat land Florida).
And the colors. Oh my the colors. Those gradient sunsets, the bright blue skies, the fall foliage, and all the works of art.
I leave feeling inspired by possibility, but sad to go. Already planning my next return, which will hopefully be sooner than the last. I don’t know what it is about this place, but I love it.
